{"id":698,"date":"2017-09-14T14:26:27","date_gmt":"2017-09-14T14:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madhousenaija.com\/?p=698"},"modified":"2017-09-14T14:26:27","modified_gmt":"2017-09-14T14:26:27","slug":"mssn-hails-lagos-improved-security-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=698","title":{"rendered":"MSSN Hails Lagos Over Improved Security In Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8230;Ambode, others to speak on education as tool for peaceful co-existence<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Muslim Students\u2019 Society of Nigeria has said that the improvement in security in public schools across Lagos State was commendable.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The group said the commencement of 24-hour surveillance in public schools showed government&#8217;s concern for literacy.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Amir (President) of the MSSN in Lagos State, Dr. Saheed Ashafa, said this in a press release ahead of the organisation\u2019s conference holding between Friday (today) and Sunday, September 17, \u00a0in Badagary.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">During the conference, which is expected to produce another set of leaders for the MSSN Lagos, \u00a0the executive governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode will deliver the keynote address on the theme.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Among other speakers at the conference are: President of The Companion, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh; Director, Vanguards Academy, Zafaran Adeniyi; \u00a0and Head of Television Continental News, Babajide Otitoju.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ashafa explained that the improved state of security would boost the morale of parents and students towards education.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He explained that it was important for the state government to also ensure adequate supply of electricity in schools.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He said, \u201cEducation remains a key element and yardstick for measuring the growth of any state. Lagos lofty plan of becoming a smart city will not be of any benefit without \u00a0the provision of a conducive learning environment.\u00a0 Neither the teachers nor students can perform at their best in an environment laden with fear and insecurity. Hopefully, with the improved security situation, many parents will have confidence to return their children to school.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cHowever, we urge government not to wait for crisis to occur in any school or the education section before being proactive in tacking its challenges. The provision of qualitative education in the state should be a priority in the plan of government at all levels.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The educationist urged pupils and teachers to also justify the investment of government in education through outstanding performances.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He appealed to security personnel to approach the task of ensuring surveillance in schools with diligence.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Speaking on the conference, Ashafa explained that the theme: \u2018Peaceful coexistence: The education agenda\u2019, was chosen due to the need for the review of the Nigerian education system.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cInvestment in education remains a vibrant tool for ensuring peace, but this seems to have been neglected.
