Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has vowed that he won\u2019t resign his position as head of the country\u2019s FA despite calls for him to quit following the Super Eagles failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.<\/p>\n
Speaking during an interview with Arise TV, Pinnick took responsibility for the Eagles inability to reach qualify for their fourth consecutive appearance at the Mundial, after losing out in the final play-off to perennial rivals Ghana last month, but insisted he won\u2019t back down.<\/span><\/p>\n According to him,\u201dSome people say, \u2018oh, take responsibility and resign.\u2019 I\u2019m a soldier, I\u2019ll stay till the end of my tenure. Taking responsibility doesn\u2019t mean you are guilty, it\u2019s just a courtesy out of maturity and out of the fact that you don\u2019t want to ascribe blames to your subordinates. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s quite unfortunate knowing that you didn\u2019t do anything, knowing that you had sleepless nights. We did everything, but unfortunately we are out and we\u2019ll bury our heads, but we\u2019ll learn, that\u2019s the beautiful thing. So, basically, we need to move from step one to step two.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Pinnick while speaking further, added that the federation was not responsible for the Eagles failure to qualify for the World Cup, saying the entire team was given everything they needed to pick a ticket for Qatar 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe sat down with the players and made them to know the importance of that game and we gave them everything. Up till this moment, I don\u2019t think you can fault the NFF. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou can fault us in the past, but in these two games (versus Ghana), with all due respect, I think we are faultless.
