So Ese-Odo Local Government area of Ondo state is leading \u00a0the pack as it has gathered its think-tank team to give\u00a0 considerable\u00a0 thoughts on community \u00a0security and policing.<\/span><\/p>\n It is also worthy\u00a0 of note that the role of the \u00a0traditional institutions\u00a0 \u00a0is very crucial \u00a0in our Local \u00a0communities if must under pin the root of the security challenges\u00a0 in the local government area. This is partly because crime is perpetrated\u00a0 at the grassroots which are the various towns and villages\u00a0 where the Traditional rulers hold sway. <\/span><\/p>\n In addition, they are the gatekeepers \u00a0of their communities- usually know and can interface\u00a0 with relevant influences\u00a0 to initiate \u00a0the required\u00a0 action for efficient\u00a0 security\u00a0 in their communities and jurisdictions.<\/span><\/p>\n Therefore it has becomes expedient to engage\u00a0 and collaborate with the\u00a0traditional institutions \u00a0while clearly\u00a0 spelling out their role in our\u00a0 quest for improved\u00a0 security.<\/span><\/p>\n Ese-Odo Local government under the watchful of its \u00a0Executive Chairman Folawe Sipasi-Aluko has proposed an all stakeholders\u2019 conference\u00a0 to bring relevant\u00a0 people together\u00a0 in an effort\u00a0 to mitigate the peculiar security challenges within the local government.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This event that will take place 17th February, 2022 \u00a0at Igbekebo Civil Centre is being \u00a0organised as an engagement\u00a0 forum that will draw active participation from relevant quarters and engender discussions between the traditional rulers and the major\u00a0 security stakeholders\u00a0 as well as institutions in the local government.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n The programme seeks\u00a0 to brings together\u00a0 representatives\u00a0 of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Navy, Civil Defence, Amotekun Corps, Political leaders as well as traditional institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n Participants are expected to appraise the expected role of traditional institutions with respected to community security and help \u00a0provide insights, to\u00a0 practically\u00a0 appraise\u00a0 and elucidate on the expected\u00a0 role of\u00a0 traditional rulers in fostering\u00a0 communal security in Ese Odo Local Government also to unveil the\u00a0 Ese- Odo Local government \u2018 Know Your Neighbour Initiative\u2019 as a strategic\u00a0 collaborative\u00a0 security\u00a0 watch road map, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n The event coordinator Honourable Tob Loko \u00a0while briefing journalists explained that some of the guest speakers at the conference are, Her Excellency Ambassador\u00a0 Maureen Tamuno, PHd, High Commissioner\/ Ambassador Jamaica, Haiti, Belize and\u00a0 Dominican Republic, Vice Chancellor University of Lokoja , Professor\u00a0 Olayemi Akinwunmi PHd, Commissioner of Police in-charge of \u00a0community policing,\u00a0 Adewale Harry Ayodele, Chief Adetunji Adeleye Special Adviser Security Matters\/ Commandant of Amotekun in Ondo state,\u00a0Professor\u00a0 Ali Alao Babatunde Distinguished Professor of Technologies Management\u00a0 and Security, Temitope\u00a0 Olodo, Co-founder\u00a0 and Head of Africa Security Forum, ASF. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While the chief host is the governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The security of a community is paramount to achieving peace, progress and development.
