{"id":4539,"date":"2021-05-14T10:48:59","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T10:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=4539"},"modified":"2021-05-14T10:48:59","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T10:48:59","slug":"ngo-solicits-support-for-sanwo-olu-on-anti-covid-19-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=4539","title":{"rendered":"NGO Solicits Support for Sanwo-Olu on Anti-COVID-19 War"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Youth Advocacy Initiative (YAI), has called on the residents of Lagos State to keep on supporting the state Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on his commitment to ensure that the dreaded COVID-19 is uprooted completely from the state.<\/p>\n<p><span data-originalfontsize=\"12pt\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Converner of the NGO, Comrade Adekunle Akinde, in a statement in Lagos Friday, said, the call is necessary because of the lackadaisical attitudes of some residents about the anti-COVID-19 measures put on ground to save the citizenry, warning that, complacency about the measures can be dangerous.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-originalfontsize=\"12pt\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">According to Akinde, the efforts of the governor ought to be complimented through compliance with all the measures that including masking up, keeping social distancing, cultivating hygienic attitude and washing of hands, reminding that, though some restrictions have been relaxed, it does not mean that the residents should be complacent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-originalfontsize=\"12pt\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">While insisting that, prevention is better and cheaper than cure, the concerned youthful leader of the NGO appeal for cooperation with the governor over the issue to safeguard the lives of the people because of the contagious nature of the disease, appealing that, \u201cSanwo-Olu\u2019s good intention for the wellbeing of the people should be reciprocated through compliance with the anti-COVID protocols. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-originalfontsize=\"12pt\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"16\">Akinde further appealed that, the governor should be spared of going through the hard experiences he went through in curtailing the monster during its first and second waves, admonishing that, \u201cfor the benefit of the generality of the people, those who arrive the country from abroad through Lagos, either by air, road or sea, should endeavour to observe the mandatory isolation period of 14 days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"14.666666984558105\">The NGO reminded that the consequences of disobedience to the rule that include loss of lives and rendering survivors incapacitated for life, the organization added that, its adverse effect on the economy, to say the least, is always devastating, wondering whether the country can afford another round of luck down when the wounds inflicted on the people in the first wave were yet to heal!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"14.666666984558105\">Against this backdrop, the group therefore advise the people to take Sanwo-Olu\u2019s concerns over their wellbeing very seriously stating that, if the advanced countries with their medical prowess are found wanting and scared, Nigerians with their level of expertise on medical field could not afford to treat Sanwo-Olu\u2019s concerns with levity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-removefontsize=\"true\" data-originalcomputedfontsize=\"14.666666984558105\">Concluding, observing the protocols would allow the governor concentrate on the agenda of moving the state forward for the benefit of all and sundry, warning that, \u201cany attempt by any individual or group of people would be vehemently resisted with the last drop of our blood through all the legal means available.\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Youth Advocacy Initiative (YAI), has called on the residents of Lagos State to keep on supporting the state Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on his commitment to ensure that the dreaded COVID-19 is uprooted completely from the state.
