points of the African Union\u2019s Agenda 2063 were discussed at an event hosted by the World Government Summit, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the African Union \u2013 African Peer Review Mechanism (AU-APRM) where a new exchange programme was announced to facilitate knowledge sharing between the UAE, UNDP and AU.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Govern<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ment ministers from the UAE<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal, South Africa, Botswana and Kenya<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, gathered at the high-level forum to discuss ways to develop advanced government models in Africa to overcome the impact of (COVID-19) pandemic<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, and mark the launch of a broader partnership where governments may exchange experiences and collaborate to realize national, regional, and global class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><br \/>\nOpening the forum, Mohammed Al <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Gergawi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, Minister of Cabinet Affairs in the UAE and Chairman of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">WGS<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, said hosting the Africa Futures Forum is part of the World Government Summit\u2019s initiatives to provide governments and organisations a platform to shape a shared future, highlighting the historic relations between UAE and Africa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Also representing the UAE, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Ohood<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Khalfan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Al <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Roumi<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, Minister of State for <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Government Development and the Future<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, reaffirmed the UAE\u2019s stance on global collaboration and announced the Government Experience Exchange Program, which will run in partnership with the UNDP and the AU-APRM, to share knowledge, and experiences to explore joint initiatives. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><br \/>\nAchim Steiner, Administrator of the UNDP, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">said:<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Afri<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">ca has an <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">opportunity to chart a new course with new governmental models that focus on climate action and leveraging the power of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">This f<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">orum is a strong platform to strengthen our partnerships for more ambitious choices to build forward better, smarter and more sustainably.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Amira El-<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Fadil<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, Commissioner for Social Affairs at the Africa Union Commission, suggested the wellbeing of African societies across various domains through landmark policies and programme is vital for the continent\u2019s path to future success.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">On behalf of the <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">AU-APRM<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, Professor Eddy <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Maloka<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> said: \u201c<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">B<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">uilding resilient and strong institutions in Africa with the daunting consequences of COVID-19 across the continent, is more urgent than ever. The APRM partnership with the UAE Government is an ambitious opportunity for Afro-Arab development cooperation<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201d<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Dr.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> Francis M. Kai-Kai, Minister of Planning and Economic Development of Sierra Leone said that multilateralism will be the key to tackling the global challenges the world faces today including COVID-19, climate change, eliminating poverty and inequality in the world.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s7\">\n<p class=\"s7\"><span class=\"s6\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">High-level ministers from the centre of African governments discussed key themes of future preparedness, strategy and innovation, government excellence and capabilities, government services food security and economic transformation, as well as ways to collaborate moving forward.
