{"id":4187,"date":"2020-09-03T12:01:59","date_gmt":"2020-09-03T12:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/maadhouze.com\/?p=4187"},"modified":"2020-09-03T12:01:59","modified_gmt":"2020-09-03T12:01:59","slug":"jide-jimoh-presents-scorecard-to-constituency-raises-hope-on-special-status-for-lagos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=4187","title":{"rendered":"Jide Jimoh Presents Scorecard To Constituency, Raises Hope On Special Status For Lagos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"auto\">A member of the House of Representatives,\u00a0representing Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency in the National Assembly,\u00a0\u00a0Honourable Olajide Jimoh, has presented his scorecard to his constituency.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Jimoh while speaking at the event, highlighted some of his achievements as their representative in the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">The former council boss said he had sponsored 10 bills, including Weight and Measure Bill, Nigerian Tourism Development Authority Amendment, Passport Miscellaneous Act Amendment Bill, Employee\u2019s Remuneration Bill and National Urban Development and Regional Commission Bill.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">Speaking further, he added that he has been able to facilitate several projects as part of extra legislative programmes\/activities, including the provision of a motorized borehole at Otumara, Apapa Road, Ebute Metta West, ongoing road construction at Nubi Close, Apapa Road, Ebute Metta, ongoing construction of classrooms at Iponri Primary School, Ebute Metta, ongoing construction of Health Centre at Makoko, Yaba, among others.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">According to him,\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI am a messenger of the people, waiting for their messages to be delivered at the appropriate quarters. Not only delivering the messages of my people, but also in collaboration with other members for adequate representation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe National Assembly is the heart of our democracy. It represents our diversity and serves as the voice of the people. The National Assembly has powers of oversight, representation and legislation, under the 1999 Constitution as amended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the last one year of the 9<sup>th<\/sup>Assembly, the house has robustly carried out its constitutional duties of making legislation, reviewing and monitoring the activities of MDAs of the federal Government. The qualities of a virile parliament is measured by the number of Bills. The first legislative year of this 9<sup>th<\/sup>Assembly has been rigorous and fruitful with 1,039 Bills passed through the first reading and sponsored by only 177 members, in which I am one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the issue of special status for Lagos State, he said,\u201d\u00a0the Bill to realise it is still on course in the National Assembly. It is\u00a0being reviewed and we have taken it up. It has gone through the first reading. The Bill is sponsored by Hon.
