Billionaire and philanthropist, Bill Gates, who had warned about a possible virus pandemic since 2015, has disclosed that a vaccine for the rampaging COVID-19 disease may come between 18-24 months.<\/p>\n

He made this known on NBC Today Show that there is evidence that this timeline may come to pass.<\/p>\n

According to the Microsoft co-founder, usually, a vaccine takes over five years.<\/p>\n

There are steps including first testing in animals, then with humans on small, medium and large scales.<\/p>\n

But with the coronavirus pandemic, \u201cbecause of all the incredibly negative effects, the sooner the better,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best scientists [are] working hard on this,\u201d Gates said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, in the last few weeks, I\u2019ve seen signs that we may get to the optimistic side of that time projection\u201d for a vaccine.<\/p>\n

Gates said that while many countries have coordinated testing on a national level during the coronavirus pandemic, the United States has not, and access to tests is \u201cchaotic.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, he called the coronavirus crisis \u201ca nightmare,\u201d saying that \u201cthe human-to-human respiratory spread is the scariest scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish it had come, you know, five or 10 years later, then governments might have done the preparation to move quickly as a few governments did,\u201d Gates said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany countries decided that at the national level, they would orchestrate the testing\u201d for the virus, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat hasn\u2019t happened in the United States. It might not happen. But, you know, the access to tests is just, you know, chaotic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked what he thinks about moves toward reopening by some states such as Georgia, Gates said he is \u201cafraid we\u2019ll have some people and some states that move too quickly and have to back off.\u201d<\/p>\n

But, he said, \u201cit\u2019s going to be a while before things go back to normal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish I could say that we\u2019re halfway through. But I don\u2019t think so.\u201d<\/p>\n
