{"id":315,"date":"2017-05-16T19:39:24","date_gmt":"2017-05-16T19:39:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madhousenaija.com\/?p=315"},"modified":"2017-05-16T19:39:24","modified_gmt":"2017-05-16T19:39:24","slug":"76-wedding-party-win-public-choice-award-2017-edition-nollywoodweek-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=315","title":{"rendered":"76, The Wedding Party Win The Public Choice Award For The 2017 Edition Of The NollywoodWeek Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PARIS, France, May 16, 2017\/ &#8212; The NollywoodWeek Film Festival (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nollywoodweek.com\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=http:\/\/www.nollywoodweek.com\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1495039370633000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHYEwQk3EVxbvX17rjThWvAwyscSA\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">www.NollywoodWeek.com<\/a>) has announced today that <em>The Wedding Party<\/em> and <em>76<\/em> have jointly received the 2017 NollywoodWeek Public Choice Award.<\/p>\n<p>The festival trophy was given to Izu Ojukwu, the Director of <em>76<\/em> and Moses Babatope who represented the film in the absence of the film Director, Kemi Adetiba in a closing ceremony that was followed by the World Premiere screening of <em>Ctach[dot]er<\/em> by the Director Walter Taylaur.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was not expecting this award. It\u2019s an honour for me and for everybody who worked on the film,\u201d said Izu Ojukwu.<\/p>\n<p>In his acceptance speech, Moses Babatope expressed his joy at winning this award and mentioned that it was a good omen as the production of The Wedding Party 2 had just begun in Lagos and Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>The high quality of the selected films for this 5<sup>th<\/sup> edition has been praised by journalists and film critics. Eleven films in total were shown during the four days of the festival, including five films in competition: <em>Dinner<\/em>, <em>Gidi Blues<\/em>, <em>Green White Green<\/em>, <em>The Wedding Party<\/em> and <em>76<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Nadira Shakur, the Director of Communication and co-founder of the festival said that \u201cThe festival has really cemented its place in the Parisian cultural calendar. Each year we try to offer the very best of Nollywood to the Parisian public by bringing the newest developments in the industry. This year we screened a web-series from REDTV and for the first time, an animated short film from Anthill Studios called <em>Play-Thing<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The selection of the 2017 edition of NollywoodWeek was rich and eclectic.
