President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to hold a series of meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
The President\u2019s aircraft was expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.<\/p>\n
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for the working vacation, spending about a week in London before proceeding to Paris.<\/p>\n
According to the Presidency, the President opted to return to Nigeria through Lagos to pay tribute to the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election and a prominent figure in the country\u2019s democratic struggle.<\/p>\n
As part of activities marking Nigeria\u2019s Independence Day on October 1, Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola\u2019s life and legacy at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.<\/p>\n
The Presidency also disclosed that the President would use his stay in Lagos to meet with political leaders and associates as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,\u201d Onanuga said.<\/p>\n
During his working vacation, Tinubu held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and also met several prominent business leaders.<\/p>\n
Among them was Vincent Bollor\u00e9 of the Bollor\u00e9 Group, whose business interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.<\/p>\n
On Monday, the President also met with billionaire businessman and Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, at a private dinner in Paris.<\/p>\n
The President\u2019s European engagements also included witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.<\/p>\n
The Presidency said DP World, a global ports and logistics operator, plans to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone.<\/p>\n
