Religious leaders across the major faiths have rallied behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, with prayers for their victory in the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
The clerics also offered prayers for an end to insecurity and other challenges confronting the nation, while urging Nigerians to sustain peaceful coexistence across ethnic and religious lines for the continued socio economic development of the country.<\/p>\n
The prayers were offered at an Interfaith Prayer Session organised by the Lagos State chapter of the APC at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, as the party formally commenced its mobilisation and electioneering activities ahead of the 2027 polls.<\/p>\n
The religious leaders commended the APC leadership for committing the electoral process to God and praying for the sound health, protection and success of President Tinubu, his Vice, Kashim Shettima, Dr. Hamzat, his running mate, Damilola Sonayon James, and other candidates of the party.<\/p>\n
They expressed optimism that the prayers would pave the way for a peaceful electoral process and a decisive victory for the APC across the country and in Lagos State.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu said the decision to begin the party\u2019s electioneering activities with prayers was deliberate, stressing that the APC was seeking divine direction as it embarked on the journey towards the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n
According to him, the party was committed to ensuring a peaceful campaign and electoral process, while expressing confidence that APC candidates at all levels would emerge victorious.<\/p>\n
Sanwo Olu pledged to personally lead the campaign for the re election of President Tinubu and the election of Dr. Hamzat, alongside other APC candidates across Lagos State.<\/p>\n
He appreciated the organisers, party members and supporters for their impressive turnout, noting that every stakeholder had an important role to play in the party\u2019s preparations for the elections.<\/p>\n
The governor described Nigerians and Lagosians as people of faith, stressing that beyond praying for victory, the party must translate its faith into action through hard work and effective engagement with the electorate.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, expressed confidence in divine guidance and blessings, saying the prayers offered at the gathering would strengthen the party as it prepares for the elections.<\/p>\n
Hamzat urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed, expressing optimism that the APC would secure a landslide victory through the massive support of its members and residents of the state.<\/p>\n
He also prayed for the safety of party members throughout the months of campaigns and rallies leading to the January and February 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Director General of BAT KOH, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, urged APC members to intensify their house to house mobilisation across the state, stressing the need to secure overwhelming support for all the party\u2019s candidates.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Hon. Mohammed Oyinlomo Danmole said the month long campaign would be rigorous, assuring that the APC would focus on the achievements and scorecard of President Tinubu as well as the antecedents and competence of Dr. Hamzat.<\/p>\n
The prayer session attracted members of the Governors\u2019 Advisory Council, former governorship aspirant Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, National Assembly candidates, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, members of the State Executive Committee, council chairmen and party loyalists from the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
