When the history of modern governance in Nigeria is written, the name of Babatunde Raji Fashola will occupy a prominent place. During his eight-year tenure as Governor of Lagos State (2007\u20132015), Fashola transformed governance from political rhetoric into measurable performance, earning widespread recognition as one of Nigeria’s finest public administrators. He served as Governor from 29 May 2007 to 29 May 2015 after succeeding Bola Ahmed Tinubu. <\/span><\/p>\n For many Lagosians, his administration represented a period when government became visible, responsive, disciplined and results-oriented. It was during this remarkable era that he was fondly described as:<\/span><\/p>\n “The Actualizer of Our Vision.”<\/span><\/p>\n That title was not a mere slogan; it reflected his ability to translate long-term development plans into tangible projects that transformed Africa’s largest city.<\/span><\/p>\n 1. Infrastructure Revolution<\/span><\/p>\n Perhaps no governor in Lagos history embarked on such an ambitious urban renewal programme.<\/span><\/p>\n His administration:<\/span><\/p>\n Constructed and rehabilitated hundreds of roads across the state.<\/span><\/p>\n Reconstructed major highways and inner-city roads.<\/span><\/p>\n Upgraded numerous bridges and interchanges.<\/span><\/p>\n Modernised drainage systems to reduce flooding.<\/span><\/p>\n Expanded the Lekki-Epe Expressway.<\/span><\/p>\n Advanced the Lagos-Badagry 10-lane Expressway project.<\/span><\/p>\n Accelerated the Lagos Light Rail initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n Supported the growth of the Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Eko Atlantic project. <\/span><\/p>\n Across Lagos, communities that had been neglected for decades witnessed unprecedented government attention.<\/span><\/p>\n 2.
