The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that children with special needs receive adequate care, quality education, and opportunities to fulfil their dreams despite the limitations they may face.<\/p>\n

The assurance was given by the State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, during a Children\u2019s Day celebration organised for special needs pupils by the Inner Wheel Club of Gbagada.<\/span><\/p>\n

Represented at the event by Dr. Olanike Olutekunbi of Massey Street Children Hospital, the commissioner said the administration remains focused on inclusive policies that cater for vulnerable groups, including children living with disabilities and other special conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that the welfare and educational development of children with special needs form part of the THEMES Plus Agenda of the state government, assuring parents that their children would continue to enjoy government attention and support.<\/span><\/p>\n

The programme took place at Victory Grammar School, located off Bank Anthony Way in Abule Onigbagbo, Ikeja, and featured participation from pupils of Atunda Olu, St. Patrick, Bethesda, Wesley 1 & 2, and Bola Memorial schools.<\/span><\/p>\n

The commissioner commended teachers and caregivers for their dedication to nurturing the children, describing their efforts as critical to helping the pupils grow with confidence and purpose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking during the event, President of the Inner Wheel Club of Gbagada, Adedoyin Olusoga, said every child deserves love, encouragement, and equal opportunities irrespective of physical or developmental challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

She noted that the children should be celebrated for their uniqueness and strengths, adding that society must continue to support and protect them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olusoga also stated that the club remains committed to humanitarian activities aimed at improving the lives of residents through partnerships and social intervention programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to her, the Gbagada branch of the organisation has continued to grow through impactful initiatives targeted at uplifting communities and supporting vulnerable groups.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also speaking at the gathering, the District Chairman, D911, Lola Fakeye, welcomed newly inducted members into the organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n
