{"id":26586,"date":"2026-05-14T21:32:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=26586"},"modified":"2026-05-14T21:32:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:32:06","slug":"obasa-two-others-to-emerge-unopposed-as-91-aspirants-battle-for-lagos-apc-reps-tickets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=26586","title":{"rendered":"Obasa, Two Others to Emerge Unopposed as 91 Aspirants Battle for Lagos APC Reps Tickets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Political activities within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered momentum on Thursday as no fewer than 91 aspirants jostled for the party\u2019s House of Representatives tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The contest, which is expected to produce candidates for the state\u2019s 24 federal constituencies, has attracted serving lawmakers, former commissioners, ex council chairmen, former legislators and influential party leaders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Findings revealed that aspirants have already undergone screening and clearance by the party\u2019s committee, while direct primaries are expected to take place across most of the 245 wards in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Despite efforts by party leaders to broker consensus arrangements in some constituencies, several aspirants reportedly resisted pressure to step down from the race.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">However, three aspirants are expected to emerge unopposed. Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Mudashiru Obasa<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, is set to clinch the APC ticket for Agege Federal Constituency without opposition, while incumbent lawmaker <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Fuad Laguda<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Benjamin Olabinjo<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> are also expected to secure return tickets unchallenged in their respective constituencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Ikorodu Federal Constituency, incumbent lawmaker <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Jimi Benson<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> will face <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olugbenga Shittu<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, while Ikeja Federal Constituency will witness a contest between incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">James Faleke<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olufunke Hassan<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Lagos Island II race is also expected to attract considerable attention as incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Kayode Akiolu<\/span><span class=\"s2\">battles former Special Adviser on Transportation, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Sola Giwa<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, alongside <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Saheed Salawe<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Oluwatobilola Martins-Fregene<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Apapa Federal Constituency, incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Mufutau Egberoungbe<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> will contest against former council chairman <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Funmilayo Muhhamed<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Samuel Adesola Adebayo<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Abullateef Aloba<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Kosofe Federal Constituency will see incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Kafilat Ogbara<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> battle former council chairmen <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Yetunde Arobieke<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Dele Osinowo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, as well as <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Remi Odunsi<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Aina Olayinka<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Oshodi Isolo axis is projected to produce some of the fiercest contests, with 16 aspirants battling for the two federal constituencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">For Oshodi Isolo I, the contenders include former council chairmen <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Afeez Ipesa-Balogun<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Bolaji Ariyoh<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, alongside <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Abayomi Fasanya<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Taiwo Ayedun<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Bashiru Dawodu<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lawrence Olanrewaju Iyere<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Ndubisi Okwara<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Foluke Daramola-Salako<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Oshodi Isolo II, former House of Representatives member <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Ganiyu Johnson<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Kehinde Bamigbetan<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, are among the leading contenders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Eti Osa, former council chairmen <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Rasheedat Adu<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Fuad Lawal<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> are in the race alongside <\/span><span class=\"s3\">John Ogundara<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Tosin Wahab<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Opeyemi Abodunrin<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Mushin II ticket will feature a showdown between former Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Seye Oladejo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, and incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Toyin Fayinka<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, while Mushin I will see incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Adeyemi Alli<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> square up against <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Adeleke Opeodu<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Madina Sanusi<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Alimosho Federal Constituency, incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Ganiyu Ayuba<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> is facing stiff competition from former Commissioner for Tourism, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, as well as <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olabisi Adebanjo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olabode Adebisi<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Babatunde Fatuade<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Somolu Federal Constituency is equally shaping up to be a major battleground, with former ALGON National Chairman <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Kolade Alabi<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, former Somolu council chairman <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Abdul-Hammed Salawu<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, former lawmaker <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Rotimi Olowo<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Mojisola Kassim<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> in contention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">For Ajeromi Ifelodun, incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Paul Kalejaiye<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> will face former representative <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Kolawole Taiwo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Ojo Federal Constituency, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Bolaji Robert<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, will contest against <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Wale Williams<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, while Surulere II features a contest between <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lanre Okunola<\/span><span class=\"s2\">and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Aremu Olalekan<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Epe Federal Constituency race includes incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Wale Raji<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Saidat Oladundoye<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Wale Anomo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Ademola Amure<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Bakare Isiaka<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In Lagos Mainland, incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lanre Oshun<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> will battle former council chairman <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Omolola Essien<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, alongside <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Sunday Sawyer<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olushola Olorunleke<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Omolaja Animashaun<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olatokunbo Oluwole<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Adekunle Omolaja<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Badagry Federal Constituency will witness incumbent <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Sesi Whingan<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> contesting against <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olusegun Adeniran<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Olufemi Ogunsanya<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, while the Ibeju Lekki ticket features <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Adebayo Balogun<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lukman Akinsanya<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> and <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Delaja Oladipupo<\/span><span class=\"s2\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Ten aspirants are also battling for the Lagos Island I and II constituencies.
