Fuad Kayode Laguda for a second term in the House of Representatives, citing his performance and growing impact across the constituency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The endorsement, which drew support from apex leaders, local government officials, and ward chairmen, was formalised during a well-attended stakeholders\u2019 engagement and declaration event held in Surulere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Moving the motion for Laguda\u2019s return, apex leader Hon. Agboola Dabiri applauded party members for their strong turnout and commended the lawmaker for sustaining the political legacy of Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila in the constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Dabiri also highlighted the positive impact of Laguda\u2019s interventions, particularly in job creation, empowerment schemes, and skills development programmes, noting that beneficiaries\u2019 public appreciation reflects the lawmaker\u2019s commitment to service.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Speaking at the event, Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant for Surulere I, Hon. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, clarified that her presence was to show solidarity, not to campaign, as she praised Laguda for engaging constituents and presenting his stewardship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Addressing concerns over a recent fire incident, Vice Chairman of Surulere Local Government, Mr. Muiz Dosunmu, disclosed that the council had swiftly engaged property owners and emergency responders. He added that steps were being taken to support victims and ease their hardship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">During an interactive session, participants raised key developmental issues. Mr. Tunde Ibrahim lamented the lack of notable sports figures emerging from Surulere despite hosting two major stadia, while Omo Oba Saka advocated for constitutional backing for independent candidacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Residents also highlighted infrastructure needs, with Debo Aina of Ladega Close calling for the installation of a 50kV transformer to restore electricity to the area. Meanwhile, Alhaji Quadri Owolabi urged the ruling party to strengthen its communication strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections to avoid a repeat of past setbacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In his response, Laguda acknowledged the discussions around independent candidacy, noting that while the National Assembly has considered the proposal, it remains a complex issue requiring further electoral reforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He assured constituents that several of his legislative proposals have progressed through second readings and public hearings and are on track for passage before the conclusion of the 10th Assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The lawmaker further revealed that he has reached out to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to secure assistance for those affected by the recent fire outbreak in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Laguda, who has spent two years and three months in the Green Chamber, has so far sponsored eight bills, moved three motions, and facilitated employment opportunities for 27 constituents\u2014efforts his supporters say justify his bid for another term.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A broad coalition of political stakeholders in Surulere I Federal Constituency has endorsed Hon.
