Heading for Political Oblivion Amid Leadership Crisis – Lagos APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is gradually sliding into political irrelevance across Nigeria due to what it described as deep-rooted leadership crises and internal divisions.

The Lagos APC made the assertion in a statement titled “Endgame: PDP’s Long Walk to Oblivion,”signed by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo.

Oladejo said the PDP, once regarded as a formidable national platform, has become a shadow of its former self as a result of persistent leadership struggles, lack of ideological direction, and prolonged internal conflicts.

According to him, the party’s current situation reflects the consequences of years of political arrogance and poor leadership culture, which he said have weakened its relevance in Nigeria’s democratic space.

He also criticised the party’s years in power, describing the period as one marked by mismanagement, institutional decay, and economic distortions that, according to him, set the country back by several years.

Oladejo argued that rather than learning from past mistakes, the PDP has continued along what he called a troubling path of opportunism and disunity, resulting in an ongoing internal crisis that threatens the party’s survival.

“The unfolding crisis within the PDP is not accidental but the natural consequence of years of poor leadership and disregard for institutional discipline,” he said, adding that the party now appears to be struggling to maintain relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The Lagos APC spokesman further stated that the PDP’s presence in Lagos State has continued to diminish as residents remain supportive of the APC-led administration and its development-oriented policies.

He said the ruling party in the state would remain committed to people-centred governance, economic growth, improved infrastructure, and expanded opportunities for residents.

While acknowledging the importance of a vibrant opposition in a democratic system, Oladejo said it was unfortunate that the PDP had failed to effectively play that role.

He therefore urged the party to reflect on its current state, stressing that Nigeria’s democracy deserves a more organised and purposeful opposition.

According to him, the APC in Lagos will remain focused on strengthening democratic institutions and improving the quality of life for residents through progressive governance.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has declared that the Peoples Democratic
