Ade Ajayi Main Auditorium, University of Lagos, Akoka.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, represented by his Deputy, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Umar Usman Kadafur<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, urged Nigerians to build a society grounded in equity, justice, and mutual respect. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He expressed concern over the growing social challenges facing the country and stressed that everyone must play a role in reversing negative trends. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">According to Governor Zulum, Ramadan presents an opportunity for life transformation, not only for Muslims but for society as a whole. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He also encouraged UMA to organize lectures beyond Ramadan to continue addressing societal ills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Speaking on the importance of civic responsibility, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, reminded the audience that security is everyone\u2019s duty\u2014not just that of government agencies. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He urged Muslims to shun crime and called on parents to instill good values in their children to nurture responsible citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The lecture featured <\/span><span class=\"s1\">JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-Haq Oloyede<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, who addressed the theme, <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cMuslims: The Challenge of National Security.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> Prof. Oloyede described insecurity as a pervasive problem affecting all Nigerians, including Muslims, contrary to misconceptions that they are immune. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He lamented that fear of attacks has disrupted farming, trade, and daily life, and warned against the stereotyping of Muslims as responsible for the nation\u2019s challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Represented by <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Prof. Olufemi Shuaib<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">UNILAG Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folashade Ogunsola<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, described the lecture as more than a yearly event. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">She emphasized that it provides Muslims from all walks of life a platform to reflect, unite, and plan for the future of the community and the nation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">She encouraged Muslims to take full advantage of Ramadan as a time for spiritual growth, reminding them that the doors of heaven are open during the holy month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">In his welcome remarks, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Dr. Abdulmumin Alao<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, President of UMA, reiterated the organization\u2019s support for democracy and condemned any attempts to undermine the electoral process. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He called on <\/span><span class=\"s1\">INEC<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> to continue improving election systems for transparency and fairness.
