The phased deployment, he noted, is designed to enhance traffic regulation, improve response time to incidents and maintain order on the busy route.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">According to the Special Adviser, the Lekki\u2013Epe axis has experienced a significant surge in traffic volume due to intensified commercial and industrial activities, driven by major developments such as the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Dangote Refinery<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn anticipation of traffic-related emergencies, LASTMA has stationed a fleet of recovery vehicles, including tow trucks of varying capacities, to swiftly clear broken-down vehicles and prevent avoidable gridlock,\u201d Giwa said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25906 aligncenter\" also revealed that the agency will deploy <\/span><span class=\"s2\">drone-enabled surveillance<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to monitor traffic conditions in real time, allowing for early detection of incidents and prompt intervention, not only on the Lekki\u2013Epe Expressway but across other key routes in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">As part of the safety measures, Giwa disclosed that clear directional signage, improved lighting and other essential road safety features have been incorporated into the traffic management architecture for the duration of the rehabilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">To further strengthen enforcement and security, personnel from the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Rapid Response Squad (RRS)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">and <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI)<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> have been mobilised to support LASTMA operations, ensuring the protection of road users and public infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Motorists were advised to reduce pressure on the construction corridor by utilising alternative routes, particularly the <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Coaster Road linking Ogombo and Abraham Adesanya<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, which has been designated as a preferred option during the rehabilitation period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Giwa appealed to road users to exercise patience, obey traffic regulations and cooperate fully with traffic officials, stressing that public compliance remains critical to the success of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">He also urged motorists to promptly report any traffic challenges through the <\/span><span
