{"id":25697,"date":"2025-12-22T19:16:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T19:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=25697"},"modified":"2025-12-22T19:54:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T19:54:56","slug":"sanwo-olu-charges-abdul-ganiyu-obasa-as-he-is-sworn-in-as-substantive-chairman-of-agege-lg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=25697","title":{"rendered":"Sanwo-Olu Charges Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as He Is Sworn In as Substantive Chairman of Agege LG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Executive Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Monday swore in Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa as the substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, alongside the appointment of a new Permanent Secretary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu charged the new chairman to prioritise grassroots development by initiating people-oriented policies that address the daily needs and realities of residents of Agege Local Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He urged Obasa to build on existing structures and deliver inclusive governance at the community level.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to him,\u201dToday, I swore in Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the Chairman of Agege Local Government. He had been acting in this role following the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, due to health reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI also swore in Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa as Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn Lagos, public office is about service. We appoint people we trust to be capable, dependable, and committed to putting the needs of the people first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cLeadership in our state, whether in politics or the civil service, must reflect the will of the people and deliver real results. That is the standard we owe Lagosians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTo those sworn in today, the offices you now hold come with serious responsibility. Our residents expect hard work, integrity, and visible impact, and anything less is unacceptable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTo our public servants and political leaders, dedication still counts. Merit still matters. Excellence is recognised in Lagos, and it will always be encouraged,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Hon. Tunde Azeez had earlier, in November, resigned from office due to health challenges, paving the way for his deputy, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, to formally assume leadership of the council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The resignation was confirmed on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, by the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Haruna Adeshina, who disclosed that Azeez\u2019s letter was formally presented to the council legislature and forwarded to the governor for approval.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Adeshina noted that councillors unanimously commended Azeez\u2019s decision, describing it as honourable and in the overall interest of effective governance in the local government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cWe commend Hon.
