Olayiwola Rasheed Emmanuel<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, has commended the Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Vinod Obasa<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, for what he described as <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cvisionary, dynamic, and people-oriented leadership\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> that is redefining grassroots governance and transforming the area into a hub of youth empowerment, skill development, and digital innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Hon. Ganiyu Kolawole Egunjobi\u2019s former aide, in a statement released over the weekend, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Olayiwola<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, a seasoned public affairs analyst and leadership scholar, praised <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Obasa<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for his rapid and strategic impact within just two months in office. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">He said the Acting Chairman\u2019s administration has <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cinspired a renaissance in Agege \u2014 rekindling hope, reshaping community priorities, and empowering residents through inclusive governance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cHon. Obasa has shown that leadership is not defined by tenure but by transformation,\u201d Olayiwola said. \u201cIn less than two months, he has used the instrument of governance to uplift lives, ignite potential, and expand opportunity for the common man.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Olayiwola particularly lauded the introduction of the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Agege ICT and Digital Skills Empowerment Programme<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, describing it as a <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cmasterstroke initiative\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> that equips youths with globally relevant competencies such as computer literacy, data analysis, coding, digital marketing, and graphic design. He said the programme positions Agege youths to compete in a digital economy where <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cemployability and innovation are driven by skill, not certificates.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Beyond digital empowerment, he highlighted Obasa\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Vocational and Technical Skills Development Programme<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, which provides practical training in <\/span><span class=\"s1\">fashion design, catering, automobile repair, welding, electrical works, and other trades<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u2014turning participants into <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cfuture employers of labour rather than job seekers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Olayiwola further applauded the Council\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Workshops<\/span><span class=\"s2\">and <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Soft Skills Clinics<\/span><span class=\"s2\">, which, he noted, are helping young entrepreneurs bridge the gap between talent and enterprise through mentorship, business management, and communication training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cHon. Obasa\u2019s empowerment model is holistic. It goes beyond technical ability to build discipline, leadership, and purpose,\u201d he stated. \u201cHe\u2019s not just training workers; he\u2019s developing innovators and responsible citizens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">According to him, the Acting Chairman\u2019s focus on <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Public\u2013Private Partnerships (PPPs)<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> is another masterstroke that ensures beneficiaries of training programs are linked to real job placements, mentorship opportunities, and business funding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Olayiwola, who served under former Executive Chairman High Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi (JP), said Obasa\u2019s administration has built upon past foundations while <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201ccharting a new course that aligns with the demands of a 21st-century economy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">However, his message wasn\u2019t all praise. Olayiwola used the opportunity to <\/span><span class=\"s1\">challenge Nigerian youths to take responsibility<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for their own progress, warning that complacency and dependence could render them obsolete in a fast-changing world dominated by technology and innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cToo many youths are waiting for miracles that will never come,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Acting Chairman has provided ICT hubs, vocational centres, and entrepreneurial training. But only those who act will benefit.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">He stressed that <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cthe world now rewards competence, not credentials,\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> urging youths to pursue practical skills that solve problems and create value.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cIf your knowledge cannot solve a problem, it cannot earn you a living,\u201d he emphasized. \u201cFrom your phone in Agege, you can now learn coding, entrepreneurship, or digital communication. The world is literally at your fingertips \u2014 the rest is up to you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">In a final note, Olayiwola warned that inaction could lead to what global economists call a <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cuseless class\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> \u2014 individuals left behind by automation and artificial intelligence due to lack of relevant skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cWhat Hon. Obasa is doing in Agege is visionary. He is equipping our youths to stay relevant in the Fourth Industrial Revolution \u2014 an age where innovation defines survival,\u201d he declared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">He urged other local government chairmen across Lagos and Nigeria to emulate the Agege model, describing it as <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u201cempowerment redefined \u2014 systematic, structured, and sustainable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThis is not charity; it\u2019s strategy,\u201d Olayiwola concluded. \u201cHon.
