President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the winners of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, across 16 constituencies in 12 states of the federation.<\/p>\n
The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as hitch-free and largely peaceful elections.<\/span><\/p>\n According to the official results announced by INEC, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured victories in 12 constituencies, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won two seats. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) claimed one seat each.<\/span><\/p>\n Tinubu also congratulated the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, on what he termed an emphatic first victory under his leadership, noting that the outcome reflected the strength of unity and the choice of popular candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cChairman Nentawe Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is achievable when popular candidates are fielded and with unity of purpose among party leaders,\u201d the President said.<\/span><\/p>\n The President further commended APC governors and other stakeholders for their role in the party\u2019s success at the polls, assuring party faithful and Nigerians that his administration remains committed to delivering on its Renewed Hope agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cTo all APC faithful and the electorate, thank you for the confidence reposed in our party. Be assured that our Renewed Hope slogan is not a mere slogan. Our destination is a better, more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
