In a bold move reaffirming his administration\u2019s commitment to quality healthcare, the Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, has approved a second upward review of doctors\u2019 salaries\u2014raising them to \u20a6800,000 monthly, effective June 2025.<\/p>\n

This latest increment represents a 100% increase from the existing \u20a6400,000, and a 300% increase overall since February 2024, when doctors\u2019 salaries were first reviewed from \u20a6200,000 to \u20a6400,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to a statement released by the council, the decision reflects both an appreciation of the indispensable role healthcare workers play and a strategic effort to retain medical talent within the local system amid increasing emigration pressures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur administration is not only reconstructing the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Primary Healthcare Centre\u2014we\u2019re rebuilding the very foundation of healthcare delivery in Ikoyi-Obalende,\u201d said Chairman Atanda-Lawal. \u201cBy increasing our doctors\u2019 salaries again, we are reinforcing our belief that a healthy society is a wealthy society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The salary review coincides with the near completion of the comprehensive reconstruction of the PHC, which is currently entering its upper-level construction phase.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once completed, the upgraded healthcare facility is expected to provide improved access to high-quality medical services for thousands of residents across the LCDA.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chairman Atanda-Lawal further emphasized that the pay raise is aimed at securing long-term commitment from healthcare workers and reducing attrition caused by the <\/span>Japa<\/span> syndrome.<\/span><\/p>\n

He urged residents to continue supporting the government\u2019s initiatives and expressed confidence in the incoming administration to sustain and build upon the people-centered projects pioneered under his leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n
