{"id":24050,"date":"2025-05-30T19:46:19","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T19:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=24050"},"modified":"2025-05-30T19:47:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T19:47:10","slug":"lagos-creative-vault-a-bold-step-toward-revolutionising-nigerias-creative-economy-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=24050","title":{"rendered":"Lagos Creative Vault: A Bold Step Toward Revolutionising Nigeria\u2019s Creative Economy \u2013 Commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has spotlighted the <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lagos Creative Vault<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> as a groundbreaking initiative poised to redefine Nigeria\u2019s creative economy.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">She described it as a visionary platform designed to serve as a digital archive, talent accelerator, and gateway to global opportunities for creatives in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">She made this known on Wednesday during the ongoing Ministerial Press Briefing commemorating the sixth anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu\u2019s administration in Alausa, Ikeja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Highlighting the State Government\u2019s commitment to empowering the creative sector, the Commissioner explained that the <\/span><span class=\"s3\">Lagos Creative Vault<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u2014curated by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Mr. Idris Aregbe\u2014has been strategically developed to offer structured access to funding, training, mentorship, and international collaborations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThe Vault is a game-changer,\u201d the Commissioner said. \u201cIt is a dynamic digital hub where filmmakers, animators, musicians, writers, and visual artists from Lagos can showcase their work, gain visibility, and connect with partners and investors both locally and globally. Through this initiative, Lagos is building a future where talent meets opportunity and creativity drives inclusive economic growth.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">According to her, the Vault reflects the Ministry\u2019s long-term vision to professionalise the creative industry, promote cultural heritage, and attract foreign investment by establishing a well-organised system that connects stakeholders across the value chain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">She further emphasised that the Vault is not merely a repository, but a matchmaking platform\u2014enabling creatives to access grants, residencies, and licensing deals for their content\u2014laying the foundation for a sustainable and monetisable creative economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">In a related development, the Commissioner revealed that the Ministry, through the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board, issued over 1,100 film permits in the last 12 months to independent movie producers. These permits supported documentaries, feature films, commercials, and short films, reflecting a robust and dynamic film ecosystem in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">On the international front, the Commissioner celebrated the selection of <\/span><span class=\"s3\">My Father\u2019s Shadow<\/span><span class=\"s2\"> for screening at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival as a significant milestone for both Lagos and Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cThis is global recognition of our storytelling prowess and cultural strength.
