{"id":23446,"date":"2025-04-18T17:07:06","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T17:07:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=23446"},"modified":"2025-04-18T17:07:06","modified_gmt":"2025-04-18T17:07:06","slug":"enough-is-enough-sultan-of-sokoto-slams-politicians-over-rising-killings-insecurity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=23446","title":{"rendered":"\u201cEnough is Enough!\u201d \u2014 Sultan of Sokoto Slams Politicians Over Rising Killings, Insecurity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa\u2019ad Abubakar III, has said traditional rulers are more deeply troubled by the unrelenting wave of killings and insecurity across Nigeria than the average politician.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during the 7th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Maiduguri on Tuesday, the Sultan said royal fathers across the North have united to address security challenges in a closed-door session.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur coming together is to speak with one voice and say \u2018enough is enough\u2019 of this senseless killing of innocent people across the North and the entire country,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n<p>He questioned how many more condemnations would be necessary before political leaders and security agencies take decisive action to curb the violence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe feel bad and saddened when our people are killed by unknown assailants. It\u2019s time we stop lamenting and start acting. We will advise our political leaders \u2014 they are in charge \u2014 and we are ready to work with them,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>While maintaining that traditional rulers are not in rivalry with state governors, the Sultan emphasized their readiness to support and complement the efforts of elected officials.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing recent fears of Boko Haram resurgence, he expressed optimism that with sincerity and collaboration among all stakeholders \u2014 political, religious, and traditional \u2014 insecurity can be tackled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission here is not just about Borno. We\u2019re here to unite and find collective solutions.
