Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has signed a new two-year contract that has now put an end to the questions about his future after months of speculation.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old Dutch centre-back had been inside the final season of his previous deal, which was due to expire in the summer of 2025.<\/p>\n
But he has now penned a seven years extension
\nafter arriving from Southampton in a $95m (\u00a375m\/\u20ac90m) switch.<\/p>\n
Van Dijk, who was named Liverpool captain when Jordan Henderson moved to Saudi Arabia in 2023, has played almost 300 games for the Reds.<\/p>\n
He has already won the Premier League and the Champions League.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere wasn\u2019t any doubt in my head that this is the place to be for me and my family. I\u2019m of Liverpool. Someone called me the other day an adopted Scouser \u2013 I\u2019m really proud to hear these things, it gives me a great feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n
