Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has been officially named a Patron of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, at a landmark symposium held yesterday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.<\/p>\n

The vibrant and insightful event, themed <\/span>\u201cYouth in Governance: Building a Foundation for Sustainable Development,\u201d<\/span> brought together key stakeholders in youth development, governance, and civic engagement to discuss pathways for enhanced youth participation in leadership and nation-building.<\/span><\/p>\n

The symposium was graced by top dignitaries including Ambassador Sukubo Saraigbe Sukubo, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria; the Chairman of NYCN Lagos Chapter; the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-West), Moremi Ojudu; the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende; and several members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

In her remarks, Rt. Hon. Meranda expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a call to further action in championing youth-oriented policies. \u201cA heartfelt thank you for the privilege of being named a Patron of this great council. I do not take it for granted,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meranda highlighted the exceptional quality of discussions at the event and lauded the intelligence, energy, and drive of the Nigerian youth. \u201cIt was truly inspiring to witness the passion, intelligence, and determination of our young people. The quality of conversations, depth of knowledge, and shared commitment to better governance filled me with renewed hope and confidence in Nigeria\u2019s future,\u201d she noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

She also commended the Ministry of Youth and Social Development and the NYCN at both the national and state levels for organizing what she described as a \u201cstellar initiative.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Reaffirming her commitment to youth empowerment, Meranda pledged to continue advocating for policies that foster a supportive environment where Nigerian youth can grow, lead, and contribute meaningfully to national development\u2014aligned with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
