Whispers of intimidation, forced initiations, and extortion spread through the corridors. The culprits? Not hardened criminals from outside the school but their very own classmates— a group of teenagers operating under the shadows of the school system.

On March 21, 2025, their reign of fear came to an abrupt end when school authorities raised the alarm, leading to the arrest of eight students suspected of engaging in cult activities.

The students, aged between 15 and 16, were identified as Bennett Bolawatife, Aluko Taiwo, Kehinde Aluko, Omolaso Waris, Akinola Ifeoluwa, Azeez Hassan, Kilani Babatunde (nicknamed “Soldier”), and Fasedemi Samuel.

Their capture was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola.

According to Odutola, investigations revealed that the arrested students were members of a clandestine cult known as Future Guys (F.T.G.).

Shockingly, they were allegedly initiated into the group by two senior students in SSS 1—Ebenezer Ope, the self-proclaimed “President” of the cult, and Ebenezer Tobi.

The students reportedly extorted valuables from their peers and created an atmosphere of fear within the school premises.

Their activities became so disruptive that the Vice Principal, Mr. Alako Oluwole, and a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, had no choice but to alert the police.

Responding swiftly, officers from the Ifo Divisional Police Station worked with the school to apprehend the teenage cultists.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has since directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

Beyond legal actions, CP Ogunlowo emphasized the need for mentorship and counselling, hinting that the students would face disciplinary measures while also being guided towards rehabilitation.

He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to be more involved in monitoring and shaping the values of young people.

As the investigation continues, one pressing question remains: How did a secret cult thrive within the walls of a secondary school, right under the noses of parents and teachers?

For weeks, an unsettling fear gripped students at Ifo High School in Ogun State.
