The Presidency has described the N15.6 trillion Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a visionary legacy project with immense economic benefits.<\/p>\n
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, made this assertion on Thursday during an interview on Television Continental.<\/p>\n
His comments come in response to criticism from former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who, in his newly released book Nigeria: Past and Future, labeled the project as wasteful and corrupt.<\/p>\n
Obasanjo also faulted the administration\u2019s decision to spend N21 billion on a new official residence for Vice-President Kashim Shettima, calling it a misplaced priority.<\/p>\n
However, Dare dismissed these concerns, insisting that the Lagos-Calabar coastal road will unlock significant economic opportunities, similar to the transformation witnessed along the Lekki-Epe corridor.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the Lekki-Epe Corridor was opened, many doubted its potential, but today, it has become a hub of real estate, industrial, and commercial growth, hosting projects like the Dangote Refinery and the Free Trade Zone,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
According to the presidential aide, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, once completed, will stand as one of Nigeria\u2019s most impactful infrastructure projects, driving economic expansion and national development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
