Renowned political commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has launched a scathing attack on ex-Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, following reports of his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).<\/span><\/p>\n

In a blistering statement on Facebook<\/a>, Omokri dismissed el-Rufai\u2019s move as inconsequential, describing the SDP as a \u201cdead party since 1993, awaiting burial in 2027.\u201d

He also ridiculed the former governor\u2019s political influence, citing the APC\u2019s humiliating losses in Kaduna under his leadership during the 2023 elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite being the incumbent governor, el-Rufai failed to secure Kaduna for the APC, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the presidential vote, all three senatorial seats, and ten out of sixteen House of Representatives seats. <\/span><\/p>\n

Even the governorship race was decided by a razor-thin margin, with the APC scraping by with just 10,806 votes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omokri, known for his sharp political jabs, did not hold back, labeling el-Rufai the \u201cbutcher of Kaduna\u201d and blaming him for the suffering of Southern Kaduna residents and the Shiite community during his tenure.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wish el-Rufai luck in his fourth political party since 1999. At least the Southern Kaduna genocide has ended. Any state that wants what Southern Kaduna and Shiites suffered under el-Rufai can vote for the SDP in 2027,\u201d Omokri stated.<\/span><\/p>\n

El-Rufai\u2019s defection has sparked controversy, with some questioning whether his political influence is waning. While his supporters claim he remains a formidable force, critics argue that his declining electoral performance suggests otherwise.<\/span><\/p>\n
