{"id":20974,"date":"2024-11-19T20:20:42","date_gmt":"2024-11-19T20:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=20974"},"modified":"2024-11-19T20:22:12","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T20:22:12","slug":"polaris-bank-manager-remanded-over-alleged-n122-million-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=20974","title":{"rendered":"Polaris Bank Manager Remanded Over Alleged N122 Million Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of an Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos, has remanded Abiodun Sanni, the manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polarisbanklimited.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Polaris Bank<\/a> Limited\u2019s Iju Branch, in the Kirikiri Correctional Facility over an alleged N122 million fraud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.efcc.gov.ng\/efcc\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Economic and Financial Crimes Commission<\/a> (EFCC) arraigned Sanni on charges of obtaining credit under false pretenses, forgery, use of false documents, and stealing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">According to the EFCC, Sanni, on February 24, 2020, in Lagos, as the bank manager of Polaris Bank\u2019s Iju Branch, facilitated a loan of N17 million for Bamgbose Tayo Taofiq, trading under the name and style of Banut Haulage, claiming the loan was backed by collateral in the form of a fixed deposit account worth N111.5 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The bank manager was further accused of dishonestly converting Polaris Bank\u2019s fixed deposit account number 0071277522, valued at N15 million, belonging to Atolagbe Joshua Tinuoye.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Sanni, who pleaded not guilty to all 16 counts, was arraigned on charges including obtaining credit by false pretenses, forgery, and theft.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Following his plea, the prosecuting counsel, M.S.
