President Bola Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, originally scheduled for Wednesday, to an undetermined date as a mark of respect for Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
The announcement came from Tinubu\u2019s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement titled, \u201cLagbaja: President Tinubu Postpones Federal Executive Council Meeting.\u201d<\/p>\n
Following the announcement at the Council Chamber, Vice President Kashim Shettima led council members in observing a minute of silence to honor the late Army Chief.<\/p>\n
He also informed ministers that they would visit Tinubu\u2019s residence to offer condolences, stating, \u201cLet\u2019s do so as a family; this is the proper thing to do.\u201d Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila is set to coordinate the gathering at Tinubu\u2019s residence.<\/p>\n
Earlier, President Tinubu expressed heartfelt sympathy to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, commending Lt. General Lagbaja\u2019s service to the nation.<\/p>\n
