In preparation for the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that participating political parties will sign a Peace Accord on November 8 in Akure, the state capital.<\/p>\n
The peace accord, organized by INEC and the National Peace Committee (NPC), aims to foster a peaceful election process.<\/p>\n
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, shared this update on Thursday in Abuja during a quarterly meeting with civil society organizations (CSOs).<\/p>\n
He mentioned that INEC will conduct a final readiness review next week, which will include stakeholders, officials, security personnel, and transportation providers.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the commission has pinpointed potential flashpoints within Ondo State and alerted security agencies to support conflict prevention.<\/p>\n
On voter preparedness, Yakubu revealed that of the 89,777 Permanent Voters\u2019 Cards (PVCs) distributed in Ondo State, 64,273 have been collected, representing a 71.6% collection rate.<\/p>\n
He also noted that INEC would soon upload the cumulative PVC collection statistics for each of the state\u2019s 3,933 polling units to its website to enhance transparency.<\/p>\n
Yakubu further highlighted improvements in the electoral process, including advancements in voter accreditation, real-time result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, and streamlined accreditation for observers and media personnel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
