Bayer Leverkusen and Nigeria striker Victor Boniface will miss Wednesday\u2019s Champions League match at Brest after a car accident on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Boniface did not train in Leverkusen on Tuesday, and German media sources Bild and Kicker reported that the forward was not on board when the plane departed for France in the afternoon.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, Boniface was involved in an accident when the car he was travelling in collided with a truck on the autobahn.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, the 23-year-old shared images and videos on social media of a black Mercedes with a crumpled chassis, along with images of his blood-soaked arm.<\/p>\n
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes told reporters on Tuesday that Boniface escaped serious injury but was doubtful for the clash.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s still open at the moment; a situation like this is not easy, and he needs to get over it,\u201d Rolfes said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all very happy that nothing serious happened to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Boniface has seven goals in 10 games in all competitions this season. His likely replacement, Czech forward Patrik Schick, has one goal in eight games across all competitions.<\/p>\n
