Tensions flared early Sunday morning when Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, arrived at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Benin, where the final results of the Edo State governorship election were being tallied.<\/p>\n
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by the party\u2019s deputy governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa, objected to Obaseki\u2019s presence, claiming he had no legitimate reason to be there.<\/p>\n
In a heated protest, Idahosa shouted, “Obaseki must leave. He has no business here. He\u2019s not an INEC official. The Nigeria Police should not compromise.”<\/p>\n
Protesters were seen banging on the gate as security agents barred them from entering the premises.<\/p>\n
