An Islamic Cleric, Fadilatu Sheikh Abdulahi Araokanmi Al-Minteeq, has urged Nigerians to refrain from cursing and abusing those in positions of leadership in the country.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that instead, people should provide alternatives to the government, stating that cursing leaders is not a solution to the myriad of problems facing the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fadilatu Sheikh Abdulahi Araokanmi Al-Minteeq made this call during the Pre-Ramadan Lecture organized by ASGAT in the Coker-Aguda area of Surulere, Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n

He pointed out that since the country has survived extreme austerity measures in the past, it will surely overcome the current economic turbulence.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Islamic Cleric noted that despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the lives of some Nigerians improved during the period.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that the month of Ramadan fasting was prescribed by Allah for the spiritual and healthy upliftment of the Ummah.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, a member of the Surulere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Lanre Okunlola, urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country and those responsible for fixing Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a message to the Pre-Ramadan Lecture, Hon. Okunlola stated that Muslims should continue setting a good example at every opportunity and refrain from promoting evil in society.<\/span><\/p>\n

Represented by his legislative aide, Fola Raheem, the federal lawmaker solicited the support of Nigerians towards the government’s efforts to alleviate the current economic hardships.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of ASGAT, Alhaji Latef Agboola, urged Muslims to be conscious of their deeds as the month-long Ramadan fast commences.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lateef Agboola also charged the gathering to contribute their quota in providing solutions to the challenges facing the country and not leave all the responsibilities to the political class.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said there was nothing wrong with Muslims participating in politics since the end result was for the upliftment of society.<\/span><\/p>\n

The National Spokesman of the group, Taofeek Olaoye, said the Ramadan fast was prescribed for mankind by Allah to improve on the act of worship, piety, and love for one another.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a short Health Talk on Hypertension at the event, Medical Expert Bintu Omowunmi Ganiu said it was largely due to the heart overworking more than expected.<\/span><\/p>\n

She recommends regular checks of blood pressure at least twice a week for people to know their health status. Reduction in salt and oily food intake as well as periodic exercise are some of the ways to curb the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n

The medical expert also advised that Nigerians should cultivate the habit of complete body checks once in a while because prevention is better than cure.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to her, too much stress as a result of the living conditions in Nigeria is part of the reason why people develop high blood pressure, saying it does not cost much to conduct a check.<\/span><\/p>\n

She disclosed that a 120\/80 blood pressure result was good, while 140\/90 means borderline hypertension but could be corrected by adhering to earlier cautions and regular intake of recommended drugs.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
