Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, has encouraged Agric startups to utilize technology in addressing economic challenges and the rising cost of food items in the country.<\/p>\n

Olusanya gave this charge during the ‘Agrinnovation Tribe Hang Out’ held at the Impact Hub, Ikoyi, Lagos. She urged startups to view themselves as part of the solution.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Agrinovation Club is an initiative of the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture aimed at addressing common problems in the Agric sector. It provides a platform for genuine partnership and networking among experts to grow their businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olusanya highlighted issues such as poor road infrastructure, lack of power, inadequate storage facilities, and multiple tax payments by farmers as contributing factors to the high cost of food items. She emphasized that Nigeria has the resources to feed its population.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Commissioner urged the Agrinnovation club to lead by example, have faith in the country, and drive positive changes for national development. She also assured them of financial support and access to expert solutions for their challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, CEO of Eko Innovation Centre, Mr. Victor Afolabi, emphasized the need for startups to explore opportunities in the Agricultural sector and bridge gaps in supply chains to stabilize food prices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Afolabi noted that the main challenge for new businesses in Nigeria is not access to finance but access to markets. He called for the adoption of technology and a holistic approach to transform the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Legal and financial expert, Mr. Omoruyi Edoigiawerie, advised club members to start small, acquire knowledge and skills, and seek expert advice to grow their businesses successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n

Head of Startups at Lagos Innovates, Hakeem Onasanya, guided participants on pitching to potential investors and sponsors to enhance their chances of success.<\/span><\/p>\n
