{"id":17481,"date":"2024-01-12T17:06:24","date_gmt":"2024-01-12T17:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=17481"},"modified":"2024-01-12T17:06:24","modified_gmt":"2024-01-12T17:06:24","slug":"fg-suspends-all-social-investment-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=17481","title":{"rendered":"FG Suspends All Social Investment Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Federal Government of Nigeria has suspended all programmes of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gatekeepersnews.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gatekeepers News<\/a> reports that this was disclosed in a statement by the Director Information, Segun Imohiosen, For: Secretary to the Government of the Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The suspension also includes the NPower programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The statement reads, \u201cPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has suspended all administered programmes by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThis is further to the ongoing investigation of alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programmes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cAll four (4) Programmes administered by NSIPA, viz; N- Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme and Home Grown School Feeding Programme (the \u201cPrograms\u201d) have been suspended for a period of six (6) weeks in the first instance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also raised significant concerns regarding operational lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to the Programs\u2019 beneficiaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHe has therefore constituted a ministerial panel to conduct a thorough review of the Agency\u2019s operations with a view to recommending necessary reforms of the NSIPA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201dDuring the period of this suspension, all NSIPA-related activities, including but not limited to all distributions, events, payments, collaborations and registrations are now frozen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe President wishes to assure the stakeholders and all Nigerians that his administration remains committed to a swift and unbiased process that will ensure that, going forward, social intervention programmes will work exactly as intended, to the benefit of the most vulnerable Nigerians.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This development followed the suspension of Halima Shehu as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Shehu, recently screened and confirmed by the Senate, is accused of financial malpractice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Shehu oversaw the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme initiated by former President Muhammadu Buhari to assist vulnerable groups and individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She is reportedly being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Government of Nigeria has suspended all programmes of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":17482,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[200,8359],"class_list":["post-17481","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-fg","tag-social-investment-programs"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17481"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=17481"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17481\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":17483,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17481\/revisions\/17483"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/17482"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=17481"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=17481"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=17481"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
