{"id":17279,"date":"2023-12-29T13:55:55","date_gmt":"2023-12-29T13:55:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=17279"},"modified":"2023-12-29T13:55:55","modified_gmt":"2023-12-29T13:55:55","slug":"fg-closes-section-of-third-mainland-bridge-for-repairs-january-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=17279","title":{"rendered":"FG Closes Section Of Third Mainland Bridge For Repairs January 9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The Federal Ministry of Works has announced that urgent repairs will be carried out on the Iyana-Oworonsoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The closure of this section is scheduled to take place on January 9, 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Olukorede Keisha, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She said, \u201cThe Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Works, wishes to inform the motoring public that the emergency repairs of Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos will continue with the closure of Iyana Oworonshoki- Adeniji Adele bound for the effective repairs of the entire section of the bridge.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Consequent to the above, motorists were advised to use alternative routes, like the Ojota \u2013 Ikorodu road- Funsho Williams Avenue \u2013 Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS- Ojota- Ikorodu Road- Jibowu \u2013 Yaba- Oyingbo-Iddo- Carter Bridge- CMS, and the Gbagada- Anthony- Ikorodu Road- Funsho Williams \u2013 Eko bridge- Apogbon \u2013 CMS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Motorists were further advised to cooperate with\u00a0 traffic management officials deployed to manage traffic and ensure hitch-free movements to minimise discomfort during the repair period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">While thanking the general public for their past cooperation and understanding, Keisha asserted that more was expected this time around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Federal Controller of Works had earlier disclosed in October 2023 that plans for a comprehensive overhaul of the Third Mainland Bridge\u2019s asphalt layers, were in place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She said the bridge was a lifeline for commuters in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Keisha stated, \u201cSo we were saying let us do a complete overhaul of the asphalt overlay. Some of them have been long overdue because we haven\u2019t done that in the last 30 years.
