The Lagos State Government has reassured residents that food security will continue to receive priority attention in order to bring down the cost of food items in the state.<\/p>\n

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave this assurance during this year’s Lagos Food Festival held at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.<\/span><\/p>\n

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Kadiri Hamzat, the Governor said the state is passionate about boosting the agricultural sector, which is why it has witnessed several initiatives and is prominently featured in the THEMES Agenda of the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

He expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout at the event, adding that it demonstrates that Lagos remains the pacesetter to other states when it comes to people-oriented programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

On her part, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bisola Olusanya, disclosed that the forum provides a platform for those in the agricultural and food sectors to showcase the beauty of the state as well as network in order to complement each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs. Falilat Oladimeji of the Ejalonibu Fishermen Women and Men Association, Apapa, said she was glad about the sales made this year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Attending the event for the fifth time, she also noted that the Food Festival provided an opportunity for them to enjoy themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

She confirmed that the space was given for free while blaming the high cost of fish in the state on the rising cost of materials including boats, engines, and fishing nets.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Another vendor at the Lagos Food Festival that deals in fast food, Wale Olukunle, solicited financial government support towards the expansion of their business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Live performances by Adewale Ayuba and 2 Baba added glamour and excitement to the event, while former World Guinness Records holder, Chef Hilda Baci, was among the judges during the cooking competition.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
