The governor-elect of\u00a0 Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has described his victory in Saturday\u2019s governorship election as one \u201c for reclaiming the land and restoring Ekiti values.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fayemi spoke on Sunday while addressing the newsmen in Isan-Ekiti\u00a0 shortly after he was declared the winner of the governorship election.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cThe victory of this election, I believe, is for reclaiming the land and restoring the values of our people.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur values in Ekiti are respect for our leaders, commitment to our people, non-brigandage,\u00a0 \u00a0non criminality and so on.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis victory is a victory for all, it is not a victory for only Gov.\u00a0 Kayode\u00a0 Fayemi, it is a victory for all the Ekiti people.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fayemi also described his victory as\u00a0 significant to\u00a0 the future of democracy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was just not an Ekiti election, I want people to understand that this election has a lot of significance\u00a0 to the future of democracy in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that we have witnessed a free, fair and transparent election process\u00a0 has huge importance for similar exercises\u00a0 like Osun State next door to\u00a0 us and eventually the national elections in February 2019,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0 governor-elect\u00a0 thanked all the APC leaders, including President Muhammadu Buhari, National Leader of the APC,\u00a0 Sen. Bola Tinubu; former governor of Ogun, Chief Segun Osoba; former interim Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande,\u00a0 as well as\u00a0 party leaders in the state.<\/p>\n
He also thanked his family members, especially his wife, Bisi,\u00a0 for their support\u00a0 during the election campaign.<\/p>\n
