The Nigerian Immigration Service<\/a> and the Lagos State Border Patrol Command have debunked the social media report claiming that some of it’s operatives who purportedly mounted illegal checkpoints at Badagry, Seme border were arrested by the special squad of the Inspector-General of Police.<\/p>\n

The Comptroller Border Patrol at Seme, Mr Emmanuel Gbemudu, made this know during an interview with Radio Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Comptroller Gbemudu who frowned at the allegation, said that none of his men were arrested over illegal checkpoints.<\/span><\/p>\n

He explained that border patrol along the route has four points, adding that the issue of illegal check points does not arise.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo immigration person was arrested. We have four points along the route. We don\u2019t do illegal check points. It\u2019s a fake news,\u201d Comptroller Gbemudu told our correspondent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also speaking on development, the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Seme Border Command, Douglas Audu said\u00a0 <\/span>investigation revealed that no arrests was\u00a0 <\/span>made as there is synergy between sister security agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no iota of truth in what they have said. To me that is fake news. Nobody was arrested within our corridor. I have done my investigation and nobody was picked.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are two commands here. We have Seme Border Command and Lagos State Border Patrol Command. I did my investigation and nobody was reportedly picked from either of the commands. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTo me, that was totally a fake news. And even if there was supposed to be something like that, we would have expected the police to get in touch because this is a joint border post,\u201d Comptroller Douglas Audu averred.<\/span><\/p>\n

All efforts to reach the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi to confirm if truely there was any arrest proved abortive<\/span><\/p>\n

It will be recalled that the IGP squad reportedly chased and arrested some police officers and men of the Immigration Service found at some of the checkpoints, believed to have been created purely to extort during a raid recently.<\/span><\/p>\n
