{"id":14629,"date":"2023-07-31T23:06:07","date_gmt":"2023-07-31T23:06:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=14629"},"modified":"2023-07-31T23:06:07","modified_gmt":"2023-07-31T23:06:07","slug":"tinubu-moves-into-glass-house-as-villa-renovations-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=14629","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Moves Into Glass House As Villa Renovations Continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">President Bola Tinubu has yet to move into the main residence even after relocating to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, and is only occupying the Glass House, a smaller structure just opposite the main residence,\u00a0The PUNCH observed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This development comes after the president has spent 63 days in office since being sworn in on May 29.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A senior Presidency official confirmed to our correspondent that President Tinubu moved to the Glass House on Sunday night where he will remain until the 32-year residence is fully renovated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The official residence has been under renovation since April leaving the president to operate from his private residence in Asokoro since his inauguration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Until this week, Tinubu had been operating from his private residence in Asokoro but made the recent move days after commuters decried the daily road closures to pave the way for his convoy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A viral video footage released last week showed a lengthy gridlock and a background voice lamenting commuters\u2019 daily experience in Asokoro as they waited for the president to pass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our correspondent learned that the president intended to relocate to the villa in September after renovations are completed in August. However, he may have changed his mind due to public pressure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Multiple sources had also worried about adequate security around the president in a residential area rather than his official residence in the Aso Rock Villa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">On the nature of renovations to be made, The PUNCH learned that the residence was being coated with paint, while some of its sections were being cleaned and fumigated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The renovation, which largely entailed finishing, fittings and the change of some security apparatus will include the provision of new sets of furniture to be determined by the President.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cYou know that most of the structure is white. So, the renovation will involve repainting the stained sections and replacing fittings that have gone weak or bad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe furniture may not be changed.
