The Senate confirmed the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as minister on Monday.<\/p>\n
Wike after reeling out his Curriculum Vitae and achievements, noted that his passion for Nigeria propelled him to accept the ministerial offer.<\/span><\/p>\n He said, \u201cI accepted the offer to serve as a minister because of my passion to serve Nigeria.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the lawmakers representing River State represented by Senator Barinada Mpigi (PDP, Rivers Southeast) during the screening told Nigerians that Wike was the best in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n He said, \u201cHis Excellency former Governor Nyesom Wike is our best in Rivers State. He is our leader and role model.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cDistinguished senators, we implore that you should let him just take a bow and go.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHis resume is insufficient to enumerate the works that he has done.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, thereafter, told him to take a bow and leave.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, had extolled the former governor stating that he was thrilled by the work he did in Rivers State.<\/span><\/p>\n Barau said, \u201cThe first time, I got to River State; I was shocked because of the impact of the work that you did in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn fact, I thought I was abroad and not in Nigeria.
