{"id":13801,"date":"2023-06-01T16:49:16","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T16:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=13801"},"modified":"2023-06-01T16:49:16","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T16:49:16","slug":"tinubu-meets-senate-president-and-speaker-in-aso-rock-villa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=13801","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Meets Senate President, Speaker In Aso Rock Villa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The President, Bola Tinubu, is meeting Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives,\u00a0 Femi Gbajabiamila at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The PUNCH gathered that the meeting began at a few minutes past 2 pm shortly after the principal officers arrived at the State House.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It also comes shortly after Tinubu\u2019s first security meeting with the Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Although the purpose of the meeting is not yet public, it may be connected to the inauguration of the members of the 10th National Assembly scheduled for June 5 and the eventual election of a new Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At least six senators are running for the seat of the president of the 10th Senate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The contestants are from four of the nation\u2019s six geo-political zones: the North-west, South-east, South-south and North-central.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Barau Jibrin from Kano State and a former governor of Zamfara, Abdulazeez Yari, are the two contestants from the North-west.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">From the South-east, there were three aspirants in the race.
