{"id":12563,"date":"2023-03-10T20:16:54","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T20:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12563"},"modified":"2023-03-10T20:16:54","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T20:16:54","slug":"nigerian-cinemas-generate-n278m-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12563","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Cinemas Generate N278m In February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">The National Chairman of Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), Mr Ope Ajayi, said it realised N278 million as ticket sales across cinemas in the month of February, nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The CEAN\u2019s Boss, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, added that the cinemas also had 122,295 gross admission within the period under review.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Cinemas experienced a drastic decline in sales in February, if compared with N819 million sales made in January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He blamed the cash crunch and poor network service delivery people experienced by POS operators nationwide, for the decline in sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ajayi similarly noted that cinemas experienced an all time lull in the week of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He explained further that cinemas had limited content to exhibit in the month of February, as movie producers avoided releasing movies during the election period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cA couple of reasons are responsible for the drop in sales. We lost a weekend of sales during the Presidential and National Assembly elections, Nigerians\u2019 attention was focused on voting across the country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cCash crunch and POS failures, affecting trading generally is also affecting the cinemas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cMany movie producers and distributors avoided releasing movies during the election period. So, content was also somewhat limited,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ajayi said the top films exhibited in cinemas across the country in February were \u201cAntman\u201d and \u201cLove in a pandemic\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He listed films to watch out for in the month of March as : \u201cCreed III\u201d, \u201cWhat love got to do with it\u201d, \u201cShazam fury of the gods\u201d, \u201cJohn Wick iv\u201d, \u201cDifferent strokes\u201d and \u201cDungeons and Dragons83\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Chairman of Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), Mr Ope Ajayi, said it realised N278 million as ticket sales across cinemas in the month of February, nationwide.
