{"id":12516,"date":"2023-03-08T17:02:02","date_gmt":"2023-03-08T17:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12516"},"modified":"2023-03-08T17:02:02","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T17:02:02","slug":"endsars-victims-in-lagos-sanwo-olu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12516","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019ve Provided Jobs, Empowerment For All #EndSARS Victims In Lagos &#8211; Sanwo-Olu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Babajide_Sanwo-Olu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Babajide Sanwo-Olu<\/a>, governor of Lagos, says he has personally reached out and provided for all the victims of the #EndSARS protest in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The governor spoke in a chat with Arise TV on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The #EndSARS protest took place in October 2020 when youths across the nation took to the streets to demand an end to police brutality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The protest reached its crescendo on October 20 when officers of the Nigerian military <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecable.ng\/full-list-nine-dead-four-missing-lagos-endsars-panel-lists-48-victims-of-lekki-shooting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"s1\">shot<\/span><\/a> at demonstrators at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The incident ignited riots which saw property and government infrastructure destroyed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Two years on from the event, many youths, particularly on social media, are still holding the Sanwo-Olu-led administration responsible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Addressing the issue, Sanwo-Olu said the youths must \u201cdo roleplay\u201d and put themselves in his position to understand the situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">The governor said he had no control because the state government does not have authority over the police and the military.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cYoung people do not do roleplay and sit back to reflect on what happened. It was not a flash event. It built up for three weeks. I do not have control. I do not control the military or the police,\u201d the governor said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u201cOn the question of who ordered the [Lekki shooting], who ordered the police not to listen to me when I went to Magodo the other day? Who ordered the military out for our election last Saturday?
