{"id":12128,"date":"2023-02-17T11:40:08","date_gmt":"2023-02-17T11:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12128"},"modified":"2023-02-17T11:40:08","modified_gmt":"2023-02-17T11:40:08","slug":"riot-spreads-to-ogun-communities-as-naira-woes-worsen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theblogonline.com\/?p=12128","title":{"rendered":"Riot Spreads To Ogun Communities As Naira Woes Worsen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Riots on Friday spread to Ogun communities as youths protested the lingering new naira policy and fuel scarcity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It was gathered that the protesters barricaded the Mowe end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and turned back motorists and travellers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our correspondent learnt that the protesters resisted police intervention and threatened to set the police station in the area ablaze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The rioters also set bonfire on the highway, a development that forced motorists and travellers to hurriedly turned back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aside from travellers, commercial activities were disrupted in Mowe, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state, as shop owners closed their shops and scampered to safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Also, the riots on Friday morning spread to the Magboro axis of the highway with travellers and road users turning back to the Lagos end of the road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Meanwhile, the National Youth Service Corps members in the areas billed for election training on Friday were asked to stay back home and avoid the routes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A security advisory to corps members from the Mowe Sub-Office Local Government Inspector and sighted by our correspondent, read, \u201cViolent protest on Lagos Ibadan expressway. Magboro blocked Ibafo burn fire. Mowe blocked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cStay safe and stay off. Till further information.
