It meant the Falcons have made through to all editions of the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup \u2013 a record shared with only six other teams globally.<\/p>\n<p>Waldrum said that the present crop of Super Falcons is capable of emulating the 1999 set, and match their predecessors\u2019 feat of a quarter-final place at the global finals.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bpw bpw-post-inline bpw-float-center bpw-align-center bpw-column-1 bpw-hide-on-desktop bpw-clearfix no-bg-box-model\">\n<div id=\"bpw-1609738-1625584000\" class=\"bpw-container bpw-type-code  bpw-hide-on-desktop\" data-adid=\"1609738\" data-type=\"code\">\n<div id=\"bpw-1609738-1625584000-place\">The Class of 1999 led by Florence Omagbemi defeated North Korea 2-1 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena with goals from Mercy Akide and Rita Nwadike, before losing 1-7 to the USA despite taking a second-minute lead through Nkiru Okosieme.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Defeat to the Americans in Chicago stirred something in Africa\u2019s lone flag-bearer at the first FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup to feature 16 teams.
