The Director General of the Teachers Continuous Training Institute, Biase<\/a> , established by the\u00a0 Cross River State<\/a> government has extended invitations to various stakeholders in the Education sector and emerging skills development providers to partner with the institute for human resource development in teacher education and digital proficiency skill development.<\/p>\n

At a workshop organized by the Federal ministry of education in conjunction with the World Bank<\/a> in Abuja Thursday October 26, Prof Taoheed Adedoja offered the use of the 21 st century facilities at the\u00a0 <\/span>Cross River owned\u00a0 <\/span>institution for any organization desiring quality services, describing TCTI Biase<\/a> as the best of such institution in Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof Adedoja at the workshop prescribed Vocational\u00a0 <\/span>and technical education as <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cthe century\u2019s saving grace for youth unemployment and Nigeria\u2019s economic turn around that should be revamped in\u00a0 <\/span>Nigeria\u2019s educational system.<\/span><\/p>\n

If the technical and Vocational colleges in Nigeria are provided with the required tools\u00a0 <\/span>and equipment backed by adequate incentives for teachers, Nigeria will be in the forefront of major manufacturing countries in the world\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The workshop, by the Innovative Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project aimed at improving Nigeria\u2019s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET)\u00a0 <\/span>was attended by officials of the Federal\u00a0 <\/span>Ministry of Education, the World Bank<\/a>, State Representatives, Development Partners, Teachers and Lecturers from various Technical Colleges and Universities, Consultants on Skill development , and the Private Sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Addressing reporters at the end of the workshop in Abuja, Adedoja, who was former Minister of Sports and Special\u00a0 <\/span>Duties, reported that the TCTI<\/a> in Biase, Cross River\u00a0 <\/span>State<\/a> has the capacity to retrain over 1 million teachers across the county as well as to carry out\u00a0 <\/span>baseline assessment and\u00a0 <\/span>training on digital skill proficiency for global certification for over 5 million Nigerians, particularly youths.<\/span><\/p>\n
