Ahead of this year’s World Food Day<\/a>, a Non Governmental Organisation, Foodclique<\/a> Support Initiative is canvassing for strong fight against the scourge of hunger.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is also charging Government at all levels to put in place deliberate policies to address food scarcity and wastage in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

At a media briefing today ahead of October 16th set aside by the UN<\/a> to mark the World Food Day, the Chief Executive Officer of Foodclique<\/a>, Mr. IBRAHIM ONILEGBALE lamented the increasing number of Nigerians facing the menace of hunger due to scarcity of food.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said during this year’s World Food Day<\/a> which coincides with the 10th anniversary of Foodclique<\/a>, the group will be distributing 10,000 meals to the needy in three different locations in Lagos including, Lagos Island, Lekki and Shomolu.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him and I quote, “the group is striving hard to consolidate on the legacies of the late founder, BOLAJOKO FADIPE by ensuring that their intervention reach every Nigerian homes in lack of food to eat, in order to touch more lives and make a more meaningful impact on the people like he has always envisaged.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On his part, SUNKANMI OLADEJO who is the Head of Operations hinted of the plans to have a Food Bank saying the group had served 450,000 meals across the country this year alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said that Foodclique Support Initiative<\/a> is prepared to join hands with government in sensitising the public against wastage of foods adding such which has become the norms during parties can serve as good meal to those in need.<\/span><\/p>\n

SUNKANMI OLADEJO futher expressed worry over what insecurity posed to food accessibility and the aftermath of flooding ravaging some parts of the nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

He believes that the advent of Food Bank will provide avenue to curb the incessant food wastage adding that they plan to reach more communities during their intervention in the coming years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of the activities lined up to mark this year’s World Food Day include; Charity Footbal competition tagged Zero Hunger Match on October 13th, PepsiCo Food Box distribution in Ayeteju Community in Ibeju Lekki and Fund Raising Dinner on October 14th, and the climax which is the World Food Day<\/a> feast distribution of 10,000 meals at three locations in Lagos on October 16th.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
